The Future of Computer Architecture Research

Wise Views and Fresh Perspectives

A panel sponsored by the National Science Foundation

Sunday, June 8th, 2003 - San Diego, CA

This panel was charged with predicting the future of Computer Architecture research.  There were two committees organized, those in the beginnings of their careers as computer architecture reseachers (the "Fresh Perspectives" committee) and those who have established a strong reputation after many years of research in computer architecture (the "Wise Views" committee).  The panel discussion consisted of short presentations made by each of the panelists on their views on specific aspects of the future of computer architecture.  In order to focus things a little, they were presented with a list of five broad topics for panelists to use to frame their presentations.  Each panelist chose two topics to address in their talks.

Panel Organizers:

Chair: Tom Conte, North Carolina State University
